Nice Interface…

…Shame about the app. It’s not that bad at all — just not great either.

An online graphics editor called Picnik. I love the meshing gears…

Netvibes

I guess this is web 2.0. A site that pulls stuff in from other sites, mashes it up and presents it in a unified form. I don’t get out much, but if I did, Netvibes would sure be a handy way to catch up on feeds and other info that interest me, all on one page…

Mytempdir.com - Dedicated Hosting service

April 26, 2006

Here’s an interesting concept: Go to the link below and upload a file to mytempdir.com where they’ll host that file free for 21 days. It can be up to 40 megs in size.

When the file’s uploaded you are given a URL so you can link to the file from your website; you’re also given the option to enter some friend’s email addresses. They’ll receive an email saying you’ve posted a file for them so they can choose whether to download it.

You are also given a link for deleting the file from the server.

Notlong

February 10, 2006

I just discovered a great service for shortening URLs.

http://notlong.com

Other services like tiny URL will generate short address as well but the tend to have rather cryptic names; the beauty of Notlong is that you can prepend your own name to the shortened address. It’s like having your own domain name, only with .notlong.com instead of simply .com and, It’s Free!

It took me all of five seconds to get mactipslog.notlong.com as a shortened URL for this site (so much easier to remember).

A Handy Bookmarklet…

November 14, 2005

Imagine the situation: You visit a site that contains several links to pages and you want to open those pages in new windows. You could use modifier keys when clicking on the links (on my version of Safari I press Opt-Cmd while clicking), or you can use this bookmarklet.

Open Behind

Don’t click it yet!

Instead, show your Bookmarks Bar, click and hold for a moment on the link, and drag it to the bar. Rename it if you like. Now you can click the new button when viewing any page and that page will now produce new pages for any link that you click.

RSS Via Email

November 9, 2005

Interesting concept: Click their bookmarklet while you’re visiting a site with an RSS feed and from then on you receive email containing new postings.
This works so well that I’m considering dumping all the other ways I read RSS and just sticking with this.

FeedDigest Experiment

I am experimenting right now with FeedDigest. I’ve posted an experimental page on the site.

Let me know what you think of the concept.
